State Farm® Insurance Agent Matt Wheeler

"Public Service Announcement: BEWARE For all current and future clients of this office. I worked here from May 1 2025 up until a few weeks ago. I found some very disturbing practices taking place. When we as insurance representatives and agents earn our licenses we vow to remain ethical at all times this includes not lying to the customer or being shady. This is not how this office behaves. I was trained to add on life policies and health policies if we were beating the proposed customer’s current rate and could add it in without them knowing and this would get us more commission. I was also trained to tell each customer about the “preferred program” which is a supposed program that if you add on more policies with your auto (because they couldn’t slip them in due to price) that you will be put into the preferred program and what that program will do for you is when the company has rate increases you will be subjected to less of an increase and on the flip side when there are rate decreases you will receive a larger decrease. I was told by Nolan (sales manager) and Sam (office manager) that this was a made up program that Wheeler had taught them but it made the big commission! I found this very unethical and a nasty tactic. I also went after employment here to call other State Farm agencies and verified that this was never heard of and was fake. I also asked other agencies if they would slip in policies to get higher commission and they said absolutely not! I have heard a few angry customers on the phone (speaker as everyone always uses) asking what these other charges are and why they were never told about them. They will tell you that this policy comes with a medical portion or a $50k life benefit and will smoothly go on to the bodily injury liability limits and the rest of the auto quote while all you’re thinking about is the price that beats whatever price you’re currently paying at your current insurance company when you actually could be saving a lot more usually than what they are telling you! Also for all of the angry customers who cant ever get ahold of Wheeler, well the sad truth is he is barely there throughout the week and when he does come in he is there for maybe an hour in the morning and then goes to a local bar and stays for a good amount of time. All of these five star ratings especially the ones with my name attached are fake as well. Wheeler paid me $100 to get him 20 five star reviews which are completely bogus and which I believe any of the rest that you see are too! Wheeler also decided to take out the cost of the fingerprints, background check, and the cost of my 4-40 insurance representative that he paid for and which I signed no contract for an amount of time at all on my last paycheck just as a means of getting back at me for leaving his company. I did advise him I was not required to do fingerprints when I started as I had received a different license last year and was not needed so he Venmo’d me $50 when I proved it to him. I doubt anything will be done to these guys for the despicable and nasty practices that they are doing but I highly advise you to go elsewhere and stay far away from here. I’m pretty sure quite a few of the ones in the book of business can vouch for hearing these things that I have said here and will be awfully disappointed in this truth that I am bringing forth today!
